Rebeca's plan to change the culture of City Hall and build Whiting's future.

Redevelopment & Inclusion

  • Use redevelopment to attract businesses and residents and grow our tax base, without selling more city land to corporations.
  • Redevelop the Stadium District around Oil City Stadium with new homes and businesses.
  • Build working relationships with current and future Whiting business owners.
  • Support diversity and inclusion throughout City Hall and the community.

Public Safety & Expectations

  • Develop clear public safety plans that prepare Whiting for any emergency, including shared safety planning with our schools.
  • Create a plan to retain our police officers.
  • Implement a new code of conduct for city workers, so residents can be confident in those who serve them.

Community Events & Visibility

  • Support and grow community events that bring us together and strengthen neighborhood pride, with more for kids and families.
  • Connect City Hall with local organizations and businesses to sponsor community events.
  • Be more visible across the city and available to residents directly, with regular walk-throughs of every city department.

City Services & Public Information

  • Update the City of Whiting website and online services so they are simple and easy to use.
  • Make the city's social media timely and informative about events, services, and situations as they happen.
  • Ensure residents have the information they need, when they need it.
